Wage or Gift

Romans 4:4-8 (Contemporary English Version)

4Money paid to workers isn't a gift. It is something they earn by working. 5But you cannot make God accept you because of something you do. God accepts sinners only because they have faith in him. 6In the Scriptures David talks about the blessings that come to people who are acceptable to God, even though they don't do anything to deserve these blessings. David says,

7"God blesses people
whose sins are forgiven
and whose evil deeds
are forgotten.

8The Lord blesses people
whose sins are erased
from his book."

Reflection of Bee:

If we are paid for what we did for a person, then he/she does not owe us anything. However, if we are not paid for it, then he/she owes us something. In the Chinese culture, it is not nice to owe anyone anything and the debtor will always tries his best to pay off his debt as soon as possible. This is quite scriptural as the the bible says,
"Let love be your only debt! If you love others, you have done all that the Law demands." - Romans 13:8
Similarly, our faith in God is the only way for God to accept us, and no there is no other form of 'payment'. Therefore, the salvation we receive from God is a gift and not a wage. That means, we don't earn it... we can't work for it. We get it by faith.
" For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith— and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" - Ephesians 2:8

Dear Lord,
Thank You for the greatest gift in my life... Your love and salvation. Let me share them with those who cross my path.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
