Colossians 3:1-7
Rules for Holy Living
1Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

5Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.


Reflection of Bee:

What's the different between our hearts and our minds? Why do we need to set our hearts and minds "on the things above"?

Our hearts are our emotions, whereas, our minds are our thoughts. In another word, we are to put our emotions and thoughts on heavenly things. In order to do so we need to treasure heavenly things, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Luke 12:34).

What are heavenly things?

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." (Philippians 4:8)

Therefore, we are to treasure in our hearts and minds, things/people that/who are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable and worthy of praise. These attributes can be found in the Christ and those who love Him.


Dear Lord,
I pray that I will treasure the right things/people that are approved by You in my heart and mind. Renew my mind daily and change my heart to one that is pure before You. May Your name be glorified through me.
I pray that when I am at work tomorrow, one life will be touched by You through me. Whoever that may be, I pray you will open his/her heart now.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
